Your windows in the Brussels-Capital Region

In Brussels, a single street can line up a 19th-century townhouse (maison de maître), a small interwar block of flats and a new apartment building. The 19 municipalities of the Brussels-Capital Region are densely built: most homes are terraced, and street-side façades often face heavy traffic. So new windows here have three jobs at once: keep the heat in, keep the noise out and respect a façade everyone sees from the pavement. And if you’d rather do all this in English, we’ll handle your project in English from the first call to installation day.

Three main types of Brussels homes

  • The townhouse or maison de maître, common in Saint-Gilles, Ixelles, Schaerbeek and Etterbeek: high ceilings, tall narrow windows, top lights (impostes) and sometimes arched heads. The aim is a frame slim enough not to weigh down the façade, in coloured uPVC or aluminium.
  • The flat in a co-ownership building, from pre-war blocks to post-war construction: colours and glazing bars are often agreed with the co-owners, and access to the upper floors is planned in advance.
  • The detached house or villa, more common towards Uccle, Watermael-Boitsfort, Woluwe-Saint-Pierre and Auderghem: here, sliding patio doors onto the garden and insulated front doors are the most frequent requests.

Noise, heat and street façades

In a city where people live close to boulevards, trams and main roads, glazing is first and foremost a question of acoustics. Well-chosen double glazing, or triple glazing on the most exposed façades, makes a real difference to a bedroom on the street side. Large south-facing glazed areas also deserve some thought, to limit overheating in summer.

Before changing the look of a façade that can be seen from the street, check with your commune’s planning department (urbanisme): requirements vary from building to building and area to area, particularly for protected properties. We can help you gather the technical information they ask for, and explain the Belgian steps in plain English.

From Overijse, via the E411

Our head office is just on the other side of the Sonian Forest, with direct access to the E411 and the Ring. The south-eastern municipalities, such as Auderghem and Watermael-Boitsfort, are the closest, but we cover the whole Region, from Anderlecht to Evere and from Jette to Forest. A technician comes to your home for a measuring visit and looks at the practical constraints (parking, access, floor level), then you receive a detailed quote that we are happy to walk you through line by line.

For grants and the EPB certificate (PEB), see the section below: we provide the technical specifications of your new windows, but can’t promise any amount. For details specific to your area, find your municipality in the list below.

Renolution grants and the EPB certificate in Brussels

Brussels' Renolution grants are currently suspended: no application can be submitted for final invoices dated 2025 or 2026, and the Region has not yet decided on a new form of support. Updates are published on renolution.brussels.

The Ecoreno loan can pre-finance renovation work, and Homegrade offers free advice to Brussels residents. Efficient windows generally improve the home's EPB (PEB) certificate, required when you sell or let a property: we provide you with their technical specifications.

Information checked on 17 October 2026.

Frequently asked questions

I live in a flat, rented or owned – can I replace the windows myself?

Windows are often part of the façade, which belongs to the co-ownership. If you own the flat, check the building's co-ownership rules and speak to the building manager (syndic) before ordering: a common colour or glazing-bar layout is sometimes required. If you rent, you will first need your landlord's written agreement. We can provide a technical description to present to the landlord or at the general meeting.

Which glazing for a bedroom on a noisy street?

Sound insulation depends mainly on the make-up of the glazing and on how airtight the installation is. During the visit, we look at how exposed each room is to noise and suggest suitable double or triple glazing.

Can a maison de maître keep its character with uPVC windows?

Yes, provided you choose a slim frame and a suitable colour, and reproduce the original divisions (top lights, glazing bars). Aluminium also allows very slim sections. We compare both options with you on site.

Do you cover every Brussels municipality?

Yes, all 19 municipalities of the Region. Find yours in the list below this text for a more detailed page.
